Actress Eva Longoria Parker and comedian George Lopez headline the 2009 ALMA Awards, to be broadcast this Friday, September 18, on the ABC network.
The ALMA Awards, created in 1995 by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), celebrates Latino achievement in film, television and music, gathering the best and brightest Latino luminaries in one star-studded ceremony each year. Antonio Banderas, Benjamin Bratt, Michelle Rodriguez, Roselyn Sanchez and Jimmy Smits are among the presenters this year, with Nelly Furtado and Pitbull among the artists performing.

In addition to awards in nine categories, the evening will include a tribute to the late Ricardo Montalban, presented by Rita Moreno, and two special awards: The Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence will honor Salma Hayek’s contributions to her craft, while Oscar De La Hoya will be recognized for Special Achievement in Sports Television.
